Velvet Goldmine

I just watched "Velvet Goldmine" three times. I can't believe I never saw it before, after all it's ancient and I'm a sort of music freak. I love movies that can capture the feel of the era in a way that makes you want to really be there. I can't even say that glam rock is my favourite style, it's not even in the top ten. However, this movie totally rocked my world. It doesn't blind you with special effects and epic storylines. It's just very...human. Christian Bale and Ewan McGregor just gained a few levels of appreciation in my eyes. I mean, when it takes me several hours to remember that it was a movie and the characters are not real, I know that the actors did a superb job. It's the kind of story that makes you itch to write fanfiction. The whole "it can't end this way, what happened later?" sort of feeling. I'm not writing anything right now, because I really have to study and I'd like to focus on my HP story when I'm not studying. However, when the whole exam debacle is over, I'll stay late with a bottle of wine and a big box of kleenex, I'll watch the movie again and I'll write everything that's storming through my mind.
If you like rock music and good acting, go ahead and watch it too, unless you have issues with crude language, nudity, drug abuse, gay sex or guys in girlie clothes.
Here's a video from the movie of Ewan McGregor singing Iggy Pop better than Iggy Pop.
