First, Endeavour is home! Safe and sound, and for the final time. I'm glad that the tile damage spotted early in the flight was all cleared and everything was safe for landing. Mom was awesome and stayed up to watch with me. It's 3:11am, and the shuttle landed about an hour-and-a-half ago, but I'm waiting to see the crew do their walk around, and watch the post-landing news conference. I love that this ship was built out of basically spare parts after they decided they needing another following the Challenger loss. She's only been on 25 missions. Not a lot. Still racked up HUGE mileage.
Second, Atlantis has made it out to the launch pad! She is supposed to launch July 8. Last one ever. So sad.
Third, I'm still pissed at NASA for giving one of the shuttles to NEW YORK. I mean, when you think NASA, you think Florida and Houston, yes? "Houston, we have a problem" anyone? I have a feeling that it was down to the fact that the Intrepid A&S museum could pay more than just giving it to Johnson Space Center, but COME ON. If we were important enough to get the Saturn V, why aren't we important enough to rate a shuttle? [/rant]
Okay. Soon to bed. *happy sigh*
