Talking the Stack in May

May 22, 2009 20:09

It's been awhile since my last comics post and since I haven't read a trade in about two months or read this week's books, I thought I'd make some comments on what I've read recently separated by publishing company. Caution - story content from the last few months will probably be spoiled for the books that I talk about, I try to stay vague for the ( Read more... )

On Deadpool: I really wish they'd get a better writer. I'm not exactly a fan of Way's writing, but its still hilarious. I just miss some of the other writers.

On Iron Man: God. You hate the art too? God, I've just been about ready to tear my hair out at it. To me, its probably the ugliest artist they've had in a while. Plus I don't like the way they draw Tony. I think he looks too hispanic.

I've never read previous books with Deadpool so I have no reference to lean on but I think there are some funny lines despite the lagging story. Then again they didn't have the greatest way to start having to be tied in with Secret Invasion. I've loved the interactions with DP and Norman, and the little flirting he did with Black Widow II.

I can't stand that painted look. The covers are nice, but the interiors. Grrr! I'm only staying on the book because the movie made me really want to follow Iron Man for good or bad. Yeah, Tony has like permatan on him but at least this isn't the artist that draws Norman like Tommy Lee Jones.

I'm a biiiig Deadpool fan, so seeing him written like this is painful. Of course, I started with Cable and Deadpool (Best Buddy comic. EVER.) So I might be a little biased! :D

Uuuuugghhh, Tommy Lee Osborn always makes me cringe. So much. I've been following Tony pretty heavily since Civil War, but moreso now that I've started playing him at a few games. He's great to read, but I'm just looking forward to him not lobotomizing himself and getting into an Iron Fight with Norman already.

I kept hearing how good C&D was that it was one of the reasons I jumped onto Deadpool when it started and Cable when it started. Both characters I hadn't really cared about prior to.

I don't know what bothers me more Tommy Lee Osborn, Sam Jackson Ultimate Fury or anything of Land. =/ I know the writers are having Tony still saving the world by keeping the knowledge away from Osborn even though they turned on him but I keep hoping he'll remember that his best defense is a good offense and kick some ass again instead of just running and hiding. (Of course this is Marvel we're talking about as it looks like they're getting ready to throw Emma under the bus like they did with Tony)
