The streak of memorable endings stops at two episodes.
It's a little strange since season 7 (along with S6) was a season when I lost track of Smallville and only saw partial seasons (came back for the final 5 episodes of S7). That being said, I was overjoyed that they brought Kara into the Smallville universe. I was less of a fan of the storylines they made her a part of but I was looking forward to the possibility of her being around to show another side of Clark since she was his last family member still active on the show.
But to tonight's episode, I liked the red & blue outfit and that she is apparently Jor-El's new choice to protect Earth from the approaching evil. The flying lesson with Clark was fun and a nice bonding experience for the cousins but i was disappointed by the only one try and that Clark gave up right after. It was also weird with Lois (as the trend has developed this season) with being so familiar with another super-powered person in Clark's life especially given she knew Kara before and thought of her as a regular person. If this was being realistic you would think that Kara would have asked about Chloe or mentioned remorse at hearing about Jimmy's death.
I don't how much of this will pan out but I fear most of the Darkseid presence on the show will be the crappy CGI fog for most of the season and if we even see Darkseid it will be in a body possession (this episode seemed to hint that Clark would get possessed didn't it?) and otherwise besides the freak of the week there will be the more human and easier to cast Suicide Squad to be the constant villains. This influencing that Darkseid is doing reminds me in a way of what happened in DC's recent Final Crisis event where Darkseid brainwashed the world using this formula. Wonder if the show runners were inspired by that.
First off, I thought during the Lois/Clark reunion, that there was a bit too much smiley!Lois - it almost felt like I was intruding on something with the look she was giving him despite them only being "partners". One question I'd been wondering was how Lois would not be freaking out about Chloe's disappearance and wanting to investigate it upon discovering it on her return from Africa. This episode somewhat answered it with Ollie's lame excuse of Chloe leaving that really didn't hold much water with me. I know the show keeps the characters pretty disconnected when they're not interacting with Clark but Lois being unable to find any trace of her cousin I think would be pretty disturbing and she wouldn't brush it off as needing time away given how protective Chloe has always been of Clark and now that Lois knows you would think she'd know her cousin wouldn't bail on Clark like that.
And I won't start on how depressing next week's "Homecoming" seems to be with Clark being the only one really returning. I miss Smallville High but it won't be the same without Lana, Lex, Pete & Chloe.
