Top 3's in My Entertainment of 2009

How about one more list/year in review thing?

Top 3 Movies I Watched in Theatres in 2009:

1) Star Trek (Fast-paced, action-packed, renewed a franchise in desperate need of reinvention. Has become one of my favorite all-time movies.)
2) Avatar (Stunning visuals, imaginative world.)
3) Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (Character building movie - something the other adaptations hadn't had a chance to do.)

Top 3 Games I Played in 2009:

1) Mass Effect (Massive storyline, choice control really makes it feel like your path is truly yours to create.)
2) LEGO Indiana Jones (Fun, imaginative, easy to jump right into, cute designs.)
3) Order of the Phoenix (Faithful to the franchise, expansive Hogwarts, deep gaming possibilities. I believe playing the game w/ watching the movie comes close to reading the book.)

Top 3 TV Shows I Watched in 2009:

1) Chuck (Watched the first 2 seasons of a vastly underrated show. The last half of season 2, the "Orion" Arc was so good I fear S3 will have a high bar of expectations to meet.)
2) Legend of the Seeker (Sparking the syndicated fantasy series genre for the first time in nearly a decade, madly entertaining series that I really need to read the books it was spun from.)
3) Spectacular Spider-Man/Star Wars: Clone Wars (SSM has been the best incarnation of Spider-Man in a long while - probably since the first Spider-Man movie & the 90's cartoon series. Both of those bogged down over time, and the fate of SSM might be the same as a S3 is in limbo at the moment. Star Wars Clone Wars is an underrated show. Those jaded by the prequel movies or the fact that this is the third iteration of Clone Wars to be released on TV are missing out on an entertaining series that doesn't rely on just any one character and truly explores the world of Star Wars only seen before in the books.)

Top 3 Comic Book Series I Read in 2009:

1) Power Girl (A book I feel that doesn't get enough buzz, it's funny, entertaining and powerful. Amanda Conner draws a great Power Girl.)
2) Detective Comics (The look of this book is AMAZING and one of a kind. The development of Batwoman as a character and her backstory has matched the level of art.)
3) Thor (JMS's run on the book ended at the end of 2009 and that is a shame because the book has been solid with Loki holding Sif's body hostage for awhile, Thor's banishment from Asgard, Kelda's relationship with the human Bill among the storylines. Unfortunately Marvel's insistence in pulling Asgard into their next big event forced JMS to leave the book and it seemed at the end that a lot of the storylines were rushed to a close to put the book in a place for the next writer to take over.)
