i can't write until...

The IUI went well.  I had the doctor I'm not too crazy about - he's a perfectly nice guy, but doesn't have a very good beside manner.  Zach calls him Dr. Lugnut (don't ask me why).  A sample of our conversation:

Me: "Ow."
Dr. Lugnut: "Oh, yeah, I'm in your uterus now.  Sorry."

Yeah...maybe a little warning next time?  Just saying.

Thankfully, I don't have to start the Prometrium till Sunday, so I'll be in Chicago by then and not trying to drive 13 hours while stoned out of my gourd.  I'm sure everyone around me on the road will appreciate that.  And maybe the side effects won't be as bad since I'm taking it...um...the other way.

For now, it's back to the 2WW.  Have I ever mentioned the 2WW sucks?  Because, yeah.  The 2WW sucks.

As for NaNo... *insert highly sardonic laughter here*  The chance of me hitting 50,000 words by the end of the month is very, very slim.  I'm still going to try, and I'm definitely going to finish the story, but it's not looking good.

Part of it is due to my highly developed procrastination skills.  My brain's latest trick is telling me that I can't write until...
  • I plot out all of my scenes (totally NOT how I write)
  • I find and read some books about pacing, plotting, and suspense, because I'm sucking at it
  • I read some other suspense novels to see how *they* did it.
  • I figure out how much cocaine you can buy for $150,000 (oh hai thar FBI!)
Etc., etc.  I really need to start ignoring my brain.

For those of you who write, do you have your own "I can't write until's"?  What are they?

writing, ttc, nanowrimo
