So I've been quiet about it for the last 2 weeks, but only because I was very busy with a work conference.
Last summer I turned 30 and my parents have thing thing of giving you something nice for a big milestone birthday. They wanted to get me jewelry, but after looking around for a while, there really didn't seem to be much I liked in that price range, and I refused to settle for something. I have way too much fancy jewelry already anyway.
So... we decided that I was going to sit on it, and think about what I really wanted.... and the more I thought about it, the more I realized I really wanted a spinning wheel. I am still fairly new to knitting, but spinning is something I am interested in learning and after trying a drop spindle from a friend it seemed like it would be something I would like...
So... this spring I finally got the nerve to tell my parents what I really wanted. Confused at first they really got excited about it and two weeks ago I went out to a lovely farm and brought home my wheel.
A Polish wheel for a Polish girl... The new Kromski Fantasia!!!
It's lovely, it works great, and with my limited knowledge of how to make it work, there seems to be some yarn on the spindle. Now all I need is a proper class this fall so I can really enjoy it and make it work for me.
I'm excited to add on a new skill to my craft and I find it very soothing and relaxing. I imagine I will be spending many winter nights with it...
