The best way, by far, to be woken up in the morning is by a loudly purring creature pawing at your face because they're oh-so-very-hungry. I love my furry alarm clocks.
Nice co-workers are nice. One said co-worker, Patrick, let me trade my office speakers for his super-awesome headphones. I am currently in sonically-induced heaven. Good headphones make so much difference (even if I look like a silly person with them on).
Phone interview with the City of Portland (Maine) today for Regional Tobacco Prevention Coordinator. Let's hope this goes well! At least I don't need to stress out about looking nice. Maybe I'll go buck-nekkid for the hell of it, or have a beer.
I've been applying for a federal government position in Boston... there's an extensive written interview before I even get considered to be selected. The upside--if I do get selected for an interview, then it'd be me against two other candidates. The downside? My chances of being selected are slim to none. The salary is worth trying ($79k at the lower end? Oh hells yes.)
I'm trying to keep a positive attitude towards all this job tomfoolery. If I get a job, I get it. If I don't, it's because I'm not the best fit for them. If I stay at this job, then I will. If I have to leave, then I'll work at Starbucks. People do what they have to do to survive, and I'll do that too. It's not like I haven't lived on a limited salary nearly all my life.
Henry Rollins comes to the Egg October 5th. You bet yer bottom dollar I'll be there. Join me if you wish/dare! I wish I knew how the hell I could meet him (if that was humanly possible)... not that I'd know what to say to him. I think I'd probably stammer something out about how he's an inspiring human being, which would be hindered by the massive amount of drooling that would inevitably happen. A girl's gotta have dreams, you know.
A little more than 5 weeks to go until I'm Mrs. Emer Schiefen. Color me anxiously happy :D
