Wow, I haven't updated here in a LONG time, so I decided I should make another post, though who knows when I'll be able to again. Work has been pretty much running my life lately, and I'm fine with that right now. When I first started with our Home Depot, we were the 2nd to last worst store in our region, now we are number one in sales and credit apps, and everything else, which is awesome!! Most of it is because of our garden department, which I help run, so I'm pretty proud of this! On Wednesday, I met Bob, the owner of all the Home Depots. He actually came to our store, I couldn't believe it! Our ASM over garden has been on medical leave, so since we really don't have anyone to 'run' our department, Steve, our DH has pretty much taken over all the ASM duties, and I've pretty much taken over all the DH duties. I'm still considered the 'recovery lead,' but I spend more time doing DH shit then I do doing my recovery duties. Now we have an opening for an electrical DH again, and they want me to take it again. This time, I've had 3 managers approach me about it, not 2. I'm thinking I may actually take it, since I'm doing all the DH shit anyway and not getting paid for it. May as well get paid for running a department, since I'm doing it already anyway, right? I swear to God, I practically live at work. I'm there all the time, and when I finally get off and decide to go out for a night of fun and drinking, it's normally with co-workers, which is kind of sad in a way, but I have sooooo much fun with my co-workers. I just went out last night with Sherry, one of our DHs that often acts as the MOD. I wanted to talk to her about Electrical, because she used to be the DH over electrical. She's the one who pretty much talked me into applying for the position.
Other then work....I'm kind of seeing this guy who's a bartender at one of the bars we go to a lot. It's pretty cool, 'cuz I get all the free drinks I want, which is definitely nice. It started two weeks ago, when Jamie (a co-worker) and I went out for a few drinks after work. One of her guy friends, Curtis), works at a bar right by work, and she wanted to go see him. As soon as we walked in, he started hitting on me, and told her he was interested in me. We've now gone on a few dates, gone drinking a few times, and just hung out a few times. I don't know for sure if anything's going to happen, but it's always fun to meet someone new...and get free drinks, lol.
It's kind of odd, because I still kind of like Steve (my DH), but nothing can happen between us when he's my DH. I kind of think he likes me too, but I'm really not sure. When he heard about Curtis and the free drinks, he was all pissed off at me for a week after that, though he never said about what, and he's been moody as hell ever since then, which EVERYONE in the department has noticed and commented to me on. I don't want to come out and ask him what's wrong, but I'm almost thinking I should say something. I pick on him constantly and get him laughing, but then as soon as I leave, he turns all moody again. I don't know what his problem is. Oh well, I don't think I'll ever understand the guy.
Oh, which reminds me, I never told anyone about this....One day, Steve and I were talking while we were out having a few drinks, and I found out he lives in Tinley, which is where I grew up. I asked him what high school he went to, and he told me he didn't actually grow up in Tinley, he grew up in Blue Island, which is where my dad's brother used to own a bar. I asked him where in Blue Island, and he told me, and it was right by my uncle's bar, which I practically grew up at, since my dad worked there and they had a house connected to the back of the bar, which is where I was always at as a kid. I asked him if he remembered the bar, and he said, "Oh, my God, yeah, I remember that place. I used to go there all the time, I knew the owner, Jack (fill in my last name), really well!" Right there, I stopped and looked at him and said, "steve, what is my name?" He responded, "Emily." I said, "no, my full name." He responded "Emily (fill in my last name)......oh my God. (You can see where it finally hit him) You knew Jack, and Jackie!" I said yes, and we continued to talk about the past and our childhood. When I went home, I talked to my parents...turns out they both knew his dad, and our dads actually played baseball together for years, he was at all our family parties, we played together as kids, he was best friends with my cousin, Jackie, everything. It's such a small world, especially since Steve is one of my good friends now, as well as being my boss. My uncle sold the bar when I was about 12, and moved to Ohio, so I really don't remember Steve from our childhood, but I called my uncle (and my cousin), and they have pictures where we were all together. It's just crazy. Definitly a small world.
Well, I'm going to go take a nap and hope they don't call me into work like they normally always do. Hope everything's going alright with everyone else!
