Room 101 essay
It is cold, like ice, and dark as night without a moon. I can hardly see anything through my badly swollen eyes. They sting but I don’t notice because I am trying to figure out what is going on. They are dragging me down a hallway. I try to fight back but they are too strong. They open a small door in the wall and throw me in as if I was just a sack of dirt. I hit the floor hard, and twist my wrist badly on the cold cement. As soon as they slam the door closed, the walls begin to screech and grind. I know what it about to happen, I can feel it in my gut, the walls are closing in on me. The temperature begins to change, it goes from freezing, to scorching in a matter of seconds. It becomes so hot that the hair on my arms begins to sizzle. I can feel them curl and burn off, the pain is immense. The walls continue to close in on me. Then I smell this odor that resembles rotten eggs and low tide at a marsh. It must be coming from the vents. The walls are so close now that I can touch all four from where I am crouching. They are hard and rough. The ceiling has even seemed to drop quite a bit. Then all of a sudden, I see a flash above matter of seconds. Then all of a sudden, I see a flash above me and an image appears on the ceiling. It is my dog, Riley. He is running in a field, there are men in black suits chasing him. They catch him because he is old and not as fast as he once was. One of them hits him in the leg hard with a bat, he cries out in pain and falls to the ground. His leg is obviously broken badly, but he attempts to get away. He can hardly get up, but he hobbles away. The men surround him again and all begin to kick, I can hear the screams of pain then the cries of a hurt animal. That is all I can take so I look away. I can’t block out the cries and begin to tremble and cry. Why are they doing this to him, he hasn’t done anything wrong is all I can think. I can’t stop the tears from rolling down my cheeks. The trembling gets more intense as the screams get louder. Then suddenly it stops and all I can do is shout at the top of my lungs, no! Right as I do, the floor drops open and I fall. I cant even tell if my eyes are open or closed because it is so dark. All I can feel is the wind ripping my clothes as I plummet for what seems like hours when suddenly I hit. My legs instantly crumple. I heard the bones shatter into thousands of pieces. The pain is so intense that I black out.
I awake to a large man with a shiny third eye on his forehead peering over me. I appear to be in some kind of hospital room, judging from all the charts and instruments on the walls. My legs feel warm, but I can’t seem to move them. The man inserts what looks like a large funnel into my mouth and I feel some kind of burning liquid seep in. It tastes much like an old penny and I guess that it is some kind of metal, heated until it is fluid. My mouth feels like it is on fire and I can see smoke spue from my nose. I feel some of the liquid begin to harden and I cease to be able to breath. I know this is the end now, all I can do is close my eyes and die.
