Jan 30th - Tu Bishvat

Jan 31, 2010 00:17

The days celebrated here at Jackson Celebrates tend toward the 'noun day' style of celebration, today however, on this, January 30th, just one day off completing a full month, we celebrate Tu Bishvat a Jewish holiday celebrating 'The New Year of Trees' one of four new years mentioned in the Mishnah, a sort of Oral Torah.

After doing a little research I discovered that Tu Bishvat is generally celebrated with the Tu Bishvat Seder, a large feast compromising of fruit and nuts. I obviously couldn't organize a feast, so instead I decided I would try and eat as much fruit as possible over the day. Here is a list of every piece of fruit I have eaten
  • Pomegranate - 1 1/2
  • Apples - 2
  • peaches  - 2
  • Melon (both water and rock) 1/2
  • Pineapple - 1/3
  • half a bottle of apple juice
  • and a bowl of fruit salad
That's a lot of fruit!

I feel so full of fruit that constipation seems massively unlikely in the near future.

Happy Tu Bishvat.

*as you may have guessed I got it wrong and tomorrow is in fact *Inspire Your Heart with Art Day'*
