Martha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I still have to pinch myself and convince myself that what I saw last night was real!! We had fantastic seats at the back of the stalls, dead centre and without the worry of annoying people behind us...
Support was a girl called Catherine Feeny. Very similar to martha, she was really good. She's on myspace www.myspace.com/catherinefeeny and I keep playing Mr Blue and Hush now. She's american but based in Norfolk. She reminded me of Beth Orton...but more on that later....
So Martha came on with her cousin, Lily Lanken AND....the McGarrigles (her mother and aunt. She also had Thea Gilmore, a guy called Chris Stills AND...Ms Orton herself!!
It wasn't like a gig. It was so informal - as if we'd been allowed to watch a group of mates jamming in someone's living room. Martha was stunning as usual - her voice does something to me, its quite extraordinary. I was so glad to have gone.
One spoiler: stupid TWATS in the audience yelling "Is Rufus here?". As much as I love Rufus, I had gon to see MARTHA and I think she deserved the respect of people who had gone to see her, rather than hoping on the offchance that rufus would show his face.
So, well done Martha - such a talented performer with such talented friends.
