Work, Dan Rather, Twin Peaks

January has been very slow for a freelancer in the "film & video lighting" and "teleprompting" biz. Today has progressed like every other day in the past couple weeks... waking up after ten, bumping around the house and finally taking a shower about noon, enjoying the morning routine of coffee, e-mail checking and listening to NPR or records, then finally (maybe) leaving the house to do something around 1 pm. Of course, with all the rain, its been far too easy to just stay inside all day, but today is finally half-way nice, so a bike ride will be in order.

So today I will ride my bike down to the company I get a lot of my work from and just poke my head in so they realize I still exist. It's an odd thing that becomes necessary after long periods with no calls about work, making up some excuse to drop by so it doesn't seem like I'm there just to say "hey, I'm not doing anything, pay me to do something". It probably won't do any good today, since January has been real slow for everybody including them so far. But it gives me a destination to ride my bike to.

Osbick Bird and I are going to go see Dan Rather speak downtown today at 6:30. Not sure what he's going to talk about really, but she got free tickets to see him from her work, and what the hell, it will break the routine of staying home each evening and watching season 1 of "Lost", which is FREAKIN' AWESOME by the way, don't get me wrong! My favorite TV series ever is "Firefly". "Twin Peaks" would be a close tie, except that Osbick Bird would never watch that with me, because she has some screwy idea that David Lynch is a misogynist. Okay, maybe he is, I don't know. But "Twin Peaks" kicks ass!
