I really loved
'Prometheus', I think that Ridley Scott did a magnificent prequel, filled with interesting ideas and images, and with subtle and very enjoyable visual ties to such classic Sci-fi films as 2001, Close Encounters, and even what I felt was a Doctor Who shout out.
Okay there WAS a lot of scary death (this is the prequel to Alien after all), but it was also full of some of the most beautiful 3D celestial cinematography I've ever seen. It was absolutely gorgeous.
It was full of interesting characters who seemed to be worth getting to know better: complex layered characters who I found involving. And again Michael Fassbender turned in a spectacular performance (nothing remotely like Magneto, but still one of the most interesting characters in this film). I was even impressed with Charlize Theron... I'm tempted to get into spoilers about her character, but I'll resist.
Ridley Scott took care, I thought, to give us interesting female characters who had compelling back stories and inner lives.
I really do recommend this movie. If you've seen other Alien films then I don't think you'll find it too scary, I didn't... And it really does have some interesting things to say.
