CBS did a wonderful piece/interview/portrait of Joss Whedon to celebrate the opening of '
Avengers'
At the end of the video is even a short clip from 'Much Ado About Nothing'
Personally I loved '
Cabin in the Woods', there are definitely those who felt that Joss & Drew were trying to have it both ways (deconstructing Horror while being horrible, having a gory violent film which is trying to make the audience question the gore and the violence), but it works for me. Like Galaxy Quest, which was both an homage and a parody of Star Trek, I think that '
Cabin in the Woods' works on all levels. And considering that
Rotten Tomatoes has stayed at over 90% fresh even two weeks after it opens (usually the audience reviews lower that number after a movie opens) shows that I am not the only one who 'gets' it (I understand that your mileage may differ... I don't care).

So now we are moving forward to
Avengers, which has already opened in Europe (breaking Box Office records there) with pre-sales in US cities showing that
Avengers opening will probably be as big as it needs to be.
