Have I mentioned lately how much I love David Souter? I dreamed about him last night! It was the first time I had ever dreamed about him.... he was so sweet to me in my dream, we sat and chatted for a while!   I fell in love with him during his confirmation hearings, I had seen a lot of confirmation hearings when I worked at Judiciary but no one ( Read more... )

The judiciary is definitely the overlooked branch of Government - strange when people focus more on the 535 men and women in Congress (okay, I could have phrase that better) than the 12 people who decide if the laws the rest pass are actually constitutional. A pity so many decisions fall straight down party lines though.

Where I worked, the Senate Committee on the Judiciary, had an enormous amount of responsibility, not only did we hold hearings on all nominees for the Supreme Court, all district courts, and all of the Justice Department (including Atty General) but we had committee meetings on ( ... )
