Another year has passed. Time to try to write again--and to make one post a day here in LJ.
This year, for NaBloPoMo, I'm going to go with a theme. I'm going to climb into my Personal WayBack Machine and try to define with tv shows/movies/characters/RL peeps etc, what shaped my fannish life/likes/kinks of today, etc. We'll see what happens.
So, here goes:
#1: Batman (TV show 1966-1968)
My first fannish memories seem to be of that show. I was around 7 when it started (Yes, I'm Old). I absolutely loved Batman. I have a super clear memory of standing next to the TV, touching the screen before an episode came on and thinking, "I will NEVER forget this!" Since I've held onto that for about 45 years, I guess that particular memory is a rare snapshot in time for me. (I also remember watching the funeral motorcade for President Kennedy, but that memory isn't as vivid). I also wrote my first (and only) fan letter to Batman, in care of a variety show called "The Hollywood Palace". I'm quite sure the couple that was raising me didn't mail it, but I did write one, lol. (OOOOH! found a pic to fit, rofl!!!)
I think Batman gave me my love for characters being in peril, the OMG cliffhanger, and parts of my off-the-wall sense of humor. I loved Bruce Wayne/Batman and Adam West (affectionately known around the house as Adam We), but Robin/Burt Ward gave me a few moments, too. Maybe this started my Guy/Buddy love, as well.
One down, 29 to go!
