Day 2
growing strong
I had a lunch today at an Armenian restaurant, when I bashfully realized I had no idea where this Armenia place is. (and here I took pride in thinking I was a globally aware person.) On a simply defined political map, Armenia borders Iran on the east and Turkey on the west.
Take a good ol' look at his.
Ethnic Armenians make up 97.9% of the population. Although other minorities include Ukrainians, Greeks, Kurds, and Georgians.
Despite (apparently) popular belief, however, and false informations I received about the majority of Armenians devoid of beliefs and religion, Armenia prides itself on being the first nation to formally adopt Christianity in the early 4th century, and where so Christianity resumes to the be the prominent religion in the Armenian Republic.
The official language is Armenian, however, Russian is widely used in education. So these letters I considered scribbles due to my ignorance, Հայաստան are beautifully distinct Armenian letters.
Quite honestly, what piqued to my interests being Architecture and gothic design was the fact that Armenians were the first to build churches in a gothic style of architecture a century before it first appeared in Europe. ( shut up europe, u no naaathin )
Hi, I fancy a good architecture.
And that's that.
