Defy gravity.

Haven't updated in a while...I've been busy.  This weekend I went to NYC with my mom and it was wonderful.  We stayed in Times Square at the Millenium Hotel on Broadway AND it was right next to a Starbucks!  SCORE!

We flew in Thursday night and went to this really yummy Italian place.  The next morning was my NYU audition.

In case you don't know, which most of you don't...let me explain NYU's Tisch School of the Arts.  There are 7 undergraduate studios there, and all but one are only drama-related - all but CAP 21 (Collaborative Arts Project 21) - which is the amazing and only musical theatre studio.  CAP 21 is incredibly incredibly competitive and only 4% of incoming freshman who audition get in.

The audition includes two 2 minute songs (1 up-tempo, 1 ballad) and two contrasting 2 minute monologues...all in front of ONE judge.  Not only is it competitive, but very subjective.  Then there's an interview, and then it's over.  They look at your academic application and this so-called "artistic review" and make a decision.  of couse academics count like 20% and the audition counts 80%....yeah.

So my audition went pretty well...I didn't mess up.....I hit every note...the interview went well....I felt good about it.  Now I just have to wait.  If I don't get in, I will be crushed, but I'll move on and audition at the 5 other schools I've applied to.  If I do get in, let's just say I'll be one of the happiest people you've ever met.

We went to lunch with Dina at the Student Center, visited lots of famliy friends etc, and went to see Medea that night which was very impressive.  I'm scared to death of Sharon.

Then Saturday, more visits, some shopping, and then.........we saw WICKED!!!!!  It was incredible.  We had 6th row seats that my mom got off ebay and we could see the facial expressions and everything.  Of course the seats were at the very end of the row on stage left....so we couldnt see like half of the back of the stage or get a good picture of the set.  But it was still phenominal.  Idina Menzel is so inspiring....and she got her BFA at Tisch.  Makes me want to go there even more.

Got home today....it's going to be a long few weeks till I find out.  The chorus trip to NYC is probably going to drive my curiosity to the max considering its a week before I find out but what can ya do.

I'm ready to move on with my life.

I just have to trust that what's meant to be will happen.
