Today Benjamin came home at last.

Benjamin is very weak now, and has a bit of a hard time toodling around the house now.  We are pretty much having to syringe feed him, though he is drinking still.  But he still seems unwilling to call it quits, so we just keep supporting him as best we can.

What is it about cats and nine lives?

To my absolute amazement, Benjamin started eating again yesterday, and by today he seemed to have more energy and be more comfortable - he took most of his morning meds without me having to grind them up.  He is actually going outside, which makes for some hilarity when he comes back in covered in dandelion ( Read more... )

So I lost it tonight.  Very frustrating.

Benjamin is on his last legs now.  We are trying one final antibiotic, and if that doesn't clear his secondary infection and get him eating again, I think the end will be very soon.  I fucking hate grinding the medicine up and squirting it down his throat - I know it tastes like shit, it makes the poor old ( Read more... )

Without wanting to sound pessimistic, I think that Benjamin will be leaving us soon.  He's down to under 7 lbs, and not eating much.  I have to grind up his antibiotics and give them to him in a syringe.  Instead of looking like Stephen Fry, he now looks like a boxer who has been punched in the nose too many times.
