Christmas Night

My house is finally quiet again. R and I hosted Christmas for both sides of the family. His mom, two brothers, their wives, and two of the nephews came up, along with my parents. Everyone brought food; we supplied a turkey, gravy, cranberry salad, homemade yeast rolls, mashed potatoes, and green bean casserole. My breakfast nook table was covered in desserts. People were moaning as they left the dining room. ;) I actually lost a couple of rellies to impromptu naps: one on the bed in the spare room, one on the big plushy couch upstairs. The rest of us littered the living room in various poses of laziness. Once we started opening presents, folks perked up somewhat. I made hot tea and coffee, packaged leftovers in plastic tubs, and basically forced folks to take food home. ;D Heh. I like leftovers, but there's no way R and I could have eaten all that food.

It's been a good Christmas. Everyone is relatively healthy. My mom didn't start any fights. A couple of in-laws aren't speaking to each other yet, courtesy of a big fight two months ago, but there are signs of thawing. *sigh* I talked to my grandmother tonight, and she sounded happy, if a little tired from all the Christmas festivities with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. I have tomorrow off, which is a Very Good Thing (tm). I have to take my car in for an oil change and go to the chiropractor and maybe noodle around on a big project for work. I brought my laptop home, but it's been leaning against the couch, untouched, since Friday night. Oops. I had good intentions, truly.

I still have gifts to ship out to my friends in Alabama and gifts to deliver to friends in town, so Christmas isn't quite over for me. I'm planning on driving to Raleigh on Saturday to spend the day with B for some fairly intensive shopping and coffee drinking. ;)

I hope all of you have had a joyful Christmas. *hugs Flist*
