"Hello [em_angharad], this is [name] from [name] Montessori School. I got your call about Thursday the 15th, although I wasn't sure what month, but if it's October 15 that'll be fine. We usually have people do observations at about 8:30; the kids come in at 8. Just give me a call and let me know what school you're at, and we'll set it up. Thank you!"
One problem: I didn't call this woman. I'm looking to teach middle school kids, so I'm not really looking to observe a kindergarten. Also, she called my cell phone -- a number I don't generally give out because I never have it on. So where did this come from? Also, what do I say to her when I call? "Hi, this is [em_angharad], I got your call, but I didn't call you?"
The only possibility I've come up with is that one of my teachers set it up, but that doesn't really make any sense either. My Development teacher would surely want us to observe ages close to those we wish to teach (not to mention she couldn't know yet that I don't have an observation set up already), and my sociocultural perspectives teacher would want us to observe at urban schools, which this isn't. Huh.
