So, today I went to the weight-management meeting about this "Ideal Protein" diet. My mom has co-workers who are on this diet and are losing alot of weight pretty quickly...one guy has now lost 60 pounds since Feb

don't do the diet. anything that results in rapid weight weight loss *always* ends up causing you to gain it all back and then some. you feel like shit the first few days because you are completely screwing with your body chemistry. plus, those boxed meals are usually full of sodium and fake sugars. if you would like to mimic some of the effects without feeling like shit, take a tally of your carbs and make a move to make more of them whole-grain or less overall. don't get rid of them altogether (no matter what people say that our "caveman" ancestors ate, carbs-- in the forms of wild grains and edible roots-- have always played a huge part in homo sapiens sapiens development!)
That's what I've heard, too...you keep it off longer (or more successfully) if you lose it slowly and through physical work-out. So I feel better in doing what I'm doing than trying to "diet". My dieting consists of watching my junk-food intake and trying to drink more and more water throughout the day.:D
I 'should' count my carbs/calories...but I suck at paying attention to stuff like that. I eat wheat bread rather than white, 2% rather than whole milk, (not right now, but generally) turkey instead of ham, and cutting WAY back on cokes and chips'n'dip, etc. -That's been helping out alot, too, I think.:)
This does not sound like a very good one at all. You might want to reconsider another alternative to a weight loss program. I'm doing (when my knee gets beak to 100%) the 6 Week Body Makeover by Michael Thurmond. Yes, I know I canit lose 110lbs in 6 weeks without sacrificing major body party, but it does work. Check out the forums before you decide. It's all open and signup is free, or you can lurk all you like...
Yeah, I decided not to do it, afterall. I'm sticking with my Zumba work-out. Tues. night, while at Zumba, an older woman from the class approached me and told me that she could tell that I'm losing weight. And then yesterday I spent part of the day trying out different garb combinations for an up-coming SCA event I'll be attending in a couple weeks. My mom told me that she could tell I'm losing weight, too. -I took pics. of each combo., but sadly I look thinner in person than I do in the photos...but such is life when a camera is involved, I suppose. Lol!
Awesome that you're trying this Body Makeover thing, I hope it works well for you. Thanks for the link, I'll check it out and see what I think.:)
I haven't re-started it yet. I had to lay off when I hurt my knee. It was difficult just bending the knee so walking was out for quite a while. Now I have the change to go on a Caribbean Cruise October of 2012 so I'm looking at dropping the weight again. We'll see soon enough. Maybe next week.
