Big Damn List o' Fic

Elspethdixon's Big Damn Fanfic ListBeing an index to every piece of extant-on-the-web fic by Elspethdixon since her freshman year of college, including the clichéd badfic, the abandoned WiPs, the one that turned up on McTabby’s Summary Executions, and the one with the word “orbs” in it. From Harry Potter to Pirates of the Caribbean, and beyond. ( Read more... )

So, it's been like six months since i came over and check to see if you'd written anything. My intention was to just do a quick check, but then I saw RRR, and then I saw classic-verse, and now I have an order that I'm going to start to read them in.

The roughest day
Classic verse
The Bruce/Tony thing
RRR
some oneshots

I think this whole warning fiasco is fucking with me. I do not normally make lists.

Also, longfic = GLEE and seeing that "The Roughest Day" was 11 parts long may have caused me to make some undignified noises.

*grins* It's much shorter than RR&R, though. I think it's about 40,000 words (though for longfic fixes, the Steve/Tony big bang has just finished and the fics from that are going to be posted July4-7th, so there'll be about 10 longfics hitting the cap_iroman comm *can't wait*)

In light of the warning debate -- the Bruce/Tony thing could arguably contain dubcon, since it involves sex + alcohol. I didn't stick a warning on it at the time because it just didn't occur to me.

*Grin* I've read them all before, and I remembered that it was shorter than RRR, but I forgot that it was actually long

I know! I am bouncing with excitement and waiting for it to be July already.

Stuff like that that doesn't bother me, thankfully. I have very specific reactions to things that are easy enough to avoid. The posts about the Warning Debate are actually more stressful to me than anything else is, so I'm avoiding the whole mess. (Though yeah, might wanna go stick a warning in there)

Hi, I'm just dropping by out of the blue because I can't seem to figure out what happened to When The Lights Go On Again. It's been a while and I can't find any reference to it being abandoned or delayed aside from the slowed down april posting schedule anywhere. Sorry if I just missed somewhere obvious but I really liked the story and I'm wondering if you intend to continue it? :)

Yeah - we're working on it again now (we stopped for a few months to work on a fic for the big bang). Sorry about the delay ^_^.

Oh cool, no worries :) I was just cleaning up my Memories and wanted to see if I should remove that one or not. (I don't follow the comm because urgh spam, I mostly read by rec, so I've been following this one by sticking the latest update in a mem and catching up from there, lol)

It will probably be about two weeks before the next chapter goes up, because the comm's about to be hit with everyone's big bang fics at once, and we thought we'd give people time to read those before saying "Hey, remember that endless aliens fic from ages ago?"

I do follow the comm, but I haven't read anything in way, way too long because the big bang ate all our time.

Hey, Elspeth, I don't know if you remember me, but we talked back in, oh, '03/'04 in Pirates fandom, and I just wanted to ask if you'd consider taking advantage of the Organization for Transformative Works' Geocities Rescue Project; I would miss "A Pirate's Life" and yes, the Remus/Sirius stories you wrote quite a lot if they vanished from the internet.

Wow, thanks for the offer, but since the fics are all backed up on ff.net and (in the case of A Pirate's Life) on lj as well, they aren't going to vanish from the web when geocities goes down. I'm probably going to just put up a new website with all the same fic content with a different web provider.

So I'll decline and let the OTW save their energies for site where the fic truly is going to vanish if it's not saved.

edit You're watersword, aren't you? I completely lost touch with you when you went ot insane journal. Do you have a DW account?

Your call, of course, and I'm delighted they aren't going anywhere.

I am indeed she; I'm over on DW as -- surprise surprise --

Will you be putting When the Lights Go On Again on ff.net? I'm sort of hoping to get a single-file HTML version of the story for off-line reading purposes:)

Thanks!

That one's not going to go on ff.net, but I can email you a .doc or .rtf file of it if you want ^_^.

We're considering doing a serial-filing on it some day, and I have a policy of never, ever deleting fic, so we *can't* put it on ff.net, because then if we're really, really lucky we might end up having to delete it (the cap_ironman comm posts can just be locked to the comm in the lottery-winning-like chance that that ever happens). That's why the .pdf version -- so people could get the whole thing in one file without having to copy-paste-save a zillion lj posts. (the Snow Queen fic is also not on ff.net, but that's because it quotes large parts of the original fairy tale verbatim and I'm pretty sure that's against ff.net's rules).

An RTF file would be *awesome*, thanks:) Though.. what's a serial-filing?

And just in case you don't have it: janethunder at gmail dot com. Thanks!

what's a serial-filing?

Filing the serial numbers off -- turning a fanfic into a publishable-without-risk-of-lawsuits novel by changing salient details enough to avoid copyright infringement (in this case, it's going to involve absolutely gutting the thing and rewriting it totally, which means it may never happen, but we wanted to be prepared).

I've have found you, my love, an entire organized list of brilliant marvel stories (plus a bunch more fandoms that I read). As well as bunch of Co-authors who I must investigate as well. I have barely scratched the surface but so far I've loved everything.

on a side note: Are you and Seanchai planning on continuing Classic Verse or has it been laid to rest?
