С днем рождения! (That should be "happy birthday"...)

Niiice day. Reasons?

I went over to Barnes & Noble, and while they don't have my copy of Mushishi vol. 5 quite yet, I got...

1. Thief of Time, by Terry Pratchett
Because how and why have I gone without if for years.

2. The Spy Who Came In From the Cold, by John Le Carre
Because it's one of the classic Le Carre books. And I think it sort of counts as a Smiley book, so do need.

3. Already Dead, Charlie Huston
Because even though I actually have very mixed feelings about vampire characters and vampire fiction, vampires via noir pulp? I am so there.

That was all I meant to buy, but then on my way to the checkout I had to browse through the clearance dvds, and I actually found for less than 10 bucks...

4. Zelig, directed by Woody Allen
Because someone did make a ridiculous, hilarious mockumentary before Spinal Tap.

And I ate way too much food that was bad for me and did not exercise. FUN TIMES. Though I'll have to be very good for a while now.

But the best part of this has totally been looking at my f-list. Seriously, I am amazed by you guys. I love you all! ♥ x 9,000

But on the subject of cake!
So yesterday I went to this meeting to formally sign up to be on the crew of the sitcom that Film and Video Society runs. And while the formal read-through of the script is in the future, the director did give us an example of a scene.

One character sets up a trap for another. This trap consists of a cake with the intended victim's name on it, and a fork that is rigged so that when it's picked up, a sword will stab the person who does so. Of course, the person that actually falls for it is not the intended victim, causing panic and further lulz. I am interested to see just how this can be pulled off, but it made me crack up. My first thought on the setup? THE CAKE IS A LIE.

(But today I had real cheesecake. OM NOM NOM.)
