[[T_T I'm so sorry, Al-mun! ;_; I know I promised I'd do this post earlier, but the last few days I've been too tired to focus on it; haven't even had a chance to read Nexus stuff until today. Think this is before or after Winry 'adopts' the Elric kids? If you want him to just wander on in, it can be midway through renovations or just after, when the apartments are merged.]]
The last time Riza had as much free time as she found on her hands lately was in her early teens. But it was nice being able to do things she wanted when she wanted, not having to live against the clock, borrowing time out of sleep. Despite the lack of a job keeping her busy, she hadn't gone out to the sign hardly at all since her return from vacation. For now, it was enough to lounge around home, to help with the renovations, and be on call if Edward needed a hand with something, limited by the irrepairable damage to his prosthetic knee. That made climbing the stairs potentially interesting, and the apartment building seemed to get busier every day.
Riza wondered if he'd known what he was getting himself into, creating the apartment after looking for a larger place.
Perhaps not, but she was ready to bet that he loved every minute of it. Even with all the other personal problems lurking in the shadows, she'd watched him working on things, keeping everything running, handling questions from residents and figuring out where new arrivals would live, and he was so alive then. He'd told her as much before, that he dealt better with his own life taking care of others, but she'd only ever really seen that in relation to Al. No, it wasn't something that stopped just at his younger brother.
She wasn't sure where he was at the moment. Riza toyed at the thought of getting up to look for him, but her chair was comfortable, and she was feeling a bit too lazy to even really focus on the book in her hands, paying half-attention to the radio.
