*Sigh*
What a fun Saturday it was. At around 5:30pm or so, we all departed for the hour and forty minute trip up to Bridgeport CT. After being stuck in traffic for a good hour or so trying to get over the GW Bridge, we finally made it to Wonderland of Ice in Bridgeport. We barely made it with about 30 mins or so before game time.
Once the game started we quickly saw how good Fairfield really was. As one referee told me, "They are a well oiled machine,", and he was right. These guys were very disciplined and all NJIT could do was try and survive. These guys were pulling moves that Ive only seen in videogames. They were relentless.
With that, I was pulled after the first and rightfully so, I looked like a total novice in net against these guys. The other goalie didnt fair much better as the game was called after the second.
Our third blowout of the season shows just how much improvment we still need as a team, but so far being 3-4 in our first season in the league is definitly something to be proud of.
After getting home from the game the rest of the night and most of the morning was spent in a dorm room with beerpong going on til 5:30 in the morning. Although I'm not able to drink beer with having Celiacs and all, the two or so shots of SoCo I took left me fairly lightheaded for most of my time there. I got home at around 5:45 and slept til 2:30 in the afternoon.
Next weekend NJIT will be at Mennen Ice Arena facing CCM in our final meeting this season with them. The last meeting was the home/season opener for NJIT and CCM won that game 6-2. We'll be looking for some revenge. The game is at 6:45pm.
