What a game, it was truly something like a circus. NJIT made the hour and a half trip up to Poughkeepsie NY to face New Paltz at the Mid-Hudson Civic Centre. As I said earlier this game was a complete circus. New Paltz, finally showing why they are winless, played dirty and the officals had to be on their side cuz the calls were unbelievable. So many cheap shots were made by New Paltz and of course no signal from the officials. At one point in the game, Captain Tommy Lucin was checked in the helmet by someone on New Paltz in plain view of the referee and the referee called it a clean hit. Even Ray Charles would have seen that to be a penalty. The referees were looking to call anything on NJIT and labeled us the agressors. As coach Nuf said, "We can't get referees at home and we cant get them here.", the officals were truly out to help New Paltz anyway they could to give them a win.
Much to their dismay NJIT prevailed with amazing goaltending from Joe Cestaro and a late goal from Dave Walsh to make it his 9th of the season. NJIT wins this circus of a hockey game 3-2.
Now NJIT has to focus on a bigger challenge tomorrow (10-19) as we travel up to Bridgeport CT to face Fairfield. Yours truly will be starting between the pipes as we try to break over the .500 mark. It won't be easy as Fairfield has been superb this season with a record of 5 wins and 1 loss so far this season. The bus leaves at 5:30pm with the game at 8:30pm. Wish us luck.
