At the museum this week it's the annual Shutdown Week. Which means the museum is closed and annual maintenance and cleaning is getting done. Gallery Supervisors like me are given the opportunity to come in and clean various galleries and such and such for extra money, as their shifts aren't happening otherwise (also they get cleaners at non-union rates :-P). My first Shutdown I didn't go in because I liked the idea of a week off. Last year I didn't go because I was in California visiting relatives. But I'm doing it this year, at least today, Tuesday, and Wednesday. So today David and I cleaned the Collections Office while listening to the Psychedelic Furs Pandora Station, and then we cleaned the Dinos office with Chris, Ashley, and Jackie. THAT was a complete hoarding disaster. We found so much random shit, and called claim to things that didn't need to be there. For example, in one of the boxes on the wrap around shelving (there were probably two dozen of them) we found a medic alert bracelet! What?! It's for 'multiple implants'. It has probably been there for years. John (head of Dinos and Fossils) said it was all mine. Hey, I'm getting paid, right? May as well just go in and clean.
In other news, tonight is the night I'm going to finish THE GHOST IN YOU. I've been putting it off all weekend because I don't want it to end, but.... it has to. I can't guarantee I won't be a weepy mess when it's over, but I also know I'm going to be so, so proud of myself. But yeah, WEEPY MESS.
And then there's this.
