But Mommy, I only hit him...

Ryan and Rachel's first week - and so far this week - appear to have gone by with mostly flying colors.

Rachel did have a hiccup. They send home a paper with a "How I did today" chart. Smiley face for good, squiggly face for a problem, meh face for a couple problems, sad face for "This better not happen again." Rachel had a squiggly face last friday, the note said she called someone stupid. (Her arch-nemesis, the little boy who has been pulling her hair since forever) She told me quite reasonably that she had only hit him...

More?

She promises she'll have all happy faces this week. We'll see tonight! She did have a note on her paper from yesterday in which she impressed the teacher by showing a fellow student how to flip puzzle pieces around to complete a puzzle. For his part, Ryan has been bringing home usually one sheet of homework a night. He's been doing some math worksheets, some of which have come home to be viewed. He even sat down next to me while I was reading last night and started to puzzle out my book. He said he wants to read the whole two pages we were on at that time, and he probably can. I got him a short "Chapter Book" to work on from Borders, we'll drag that out tonight, cause I'm not sure I'm up to explaining all of "New Moon" to him.

Hubby is showing slow improvement after finally getting into the pain clinic and is now several PT sessions into that course of remedy. Hopefully we keep moving in that direction :-) He went to work all this week, which is a marked improvement!

Pager week for me starts today, so it will probably be a "do nothing much" type weekend. Maybe a bit of shopping to prep for D*Con, maybe futilely look for a natural wood bed for Ryan one more time before buying him a sleeping bag, maybe get a new recliner, cause the springs in ours have definitely sprung. I had spotted one I was in love with at Haverty's a while back, maybe I can talk the hubby into checking it out and purchasing it with me.

...But seriously, like *everything* was natural wood when we got R&R's bedroom sets from BRU. Last time I ventured in there, NOTHING was. What happened to Natural? :\ I found a couple of nice loft and captains beds online, but I'd really feel better if I could SEE it in person before committing a fair amount of $$ to it, yaknow? Grrr.
