Grandma came and visited a couple of weekends ago, much to the delight of the young people. They would like to see both Grandma and Nana come visit for their birthdays now. Which kinda tangentially leads to the next topic..."Maybe I wouldn't be in trouble if only I had Grandma (or Nana!)"
Rachel got in trouble at school - she ripped a page out of a book, was not listening to her teachers, and apparently pulled on someone's shirt. So she was given a lecture, her books were removed from her room for some undefined period of time, and she didn't get treats for a week. And how did she react? "I want to talk to Grandma." We assured her that Grandma would disapprove of her actions too. "I want to talk to Nana." was next, with a similar reminder that Nana would probably not want her doing those naughty things either. But this doesn't discourage her from wanting to chat with the other parent when she gets in trouble and spoken to by one of us.
Ryan went to the birthday party for one of his old Kindercare buddies - he was excited to find several of his old pre-K classmates there. Rachel stayed home with Daddy, and we got pizza and cake :-) It was fun to watch him tearing around with his old friends - he was going ruddy in the face by the time they called for the food. He wasn't hard to put to bed that night - the running offset the sugar! Plus he got a new tiny stapler in his goodie bag, so he was a happy camper.
Tomorrow will mark the T-giving festivities at my office. We are building scarecrows! I have to buy fruit...and try to find a burlap bag. And cut down my stand of zebra grass to stuff him with. Saturday the car goes in for servicing, which is good since we'll be driving to Grandma's house next week for actual Thanksgiving!
Other than that, Mommy & Daddy have been playing the new expansion of Warcraft, trying to catch up on the TV shows we like, and doing our best to avoid catching anything more serious than a cold :-)
