And the party animal is...Rachel?

Ryan has been so excited about this birthday party. He was ready to leave for it the moment he woke up Saturday. I think it really chapped him that we had to wait till the party actually started in order to go. It's hard waiting for parties when you are not quite 4! The appointed time did finally get near, and we headed off for Chuck E. Cheese with two toddlers and a present. It was obviously prime time when we got there, quite full! Each child had a cup of tokens at his/her plate and they were sent off to the play area. Ryan became quite the stalker, he wanted to know where Kaitlyn was and do the things she was doing. He had a lot of fun on the various rides, especially a pair of roller coaster sims. Yep, he is his Daddy's child.

More about the par-tay and other goings on behind the cut!

He wasn't interested in the pizza, he gave himself a red lip from the punch, and he was all about the cake! It was a gorgeous Dora themed cake, that was actually taller than it was wide. It was both chocolate and vanilla cake inside. The direct quote was "I love this chocolate!" Rachel ate both her own slice and most of Ryan's rejected slice of pizza. She nibbled on bits of cake offered by hubby and myself. She kept requesting more punch too :-) She wasn't very interested in the rides, but was very happy with the slide. I lost count of how many times she went on that. I think the horse purse was well recieved. And when the pizza and cake were gone, the tokens toked, and the guest of honor had gone home, we got ready to leave. Ryan was willing to go, having been offered the bribe of getting him a movie at the Best Buy next door (Over the Hedge aquired!). Rachel, however, had to be physically removed from the slide and carried kicking and screaming out the door. I suspect that might happen a bit, there.

Which leads to a cute side story. The night before, I'd been trying to get Ryan to brush his teeth. "So they won't fall out?" he asked. "Yes," I told him, "If they fall out, what will you eat your cake with??" My wise boy-child replied "A fork!" He's a clever one!

A family update - Nana is now in the physical therapy stage of recovery. With any luck, she gets to go home this coming weekend. She has expressed the desire to be home before Halloween. She's getting mobility back and is according to the nurses. doing a bang up job of recovering now. They did find a clot a few days ago, which will have the net result of her not eating salad...because apparently it interferes with the blood thinners she'll have to be on for several months. Wierd! *hugs* to Nana, keep up the A+ recovery!

I know Rachel will like one of her birthday/christmas presents. She saw the Hallmark bag that had also contained the horse purse sitting on the chair Saturday. She climbed up and extracted a soft white tiger I had gotten with the intent of giving it on a suitable occasion. She told me, as she hugged it enthusiastically, "Me like!" I felt bad taking it away :\

And last but not least, I did accomplish something around the house. I went out Sunday afternoon with the intent of trenching a ... trench ... in the side bed and planting my six red iris bulbs. I rounded the far corner of the house with my trenching hoe and weed puller in hand, and was horrified to see six foot high somethings all over the place. So the simple trenching turned into a weed and small tree extraction session, pulling crabgrass session, scalping the things that rightfully belongs there session, and finally, MUCH later than intended...a plant six bulbs session. Ryan helped count the bulbs, pick up the packages, and carry things back to the garage after. Hopefully we will have good results come spring!
