daxius knows woefully little about bandom (all college's fault, I think), and I was educating her last night. And I promised I'd put together a list of some primers and such. So, here it is! Maybe this'll be of help to others as well. If not, just go a little lower - there's music!

The best resource you will ever find when it comes to bandom is right here. It's a master post of primers, picpsams, communities, and a gazillion other things. It's all KINDS of amazing. wistfuljane is my hero in that way.

She also put together a ridiculously detailed account of bandom connections. Charts and lists and links! Goes to show how incestuous the whole community is, also.
