And now we move onto the rest of the covers I have. I went through a lot of different ideas for how to post them without doing one monster post, and what I settled on in the end is what
as_good suggested: organize by date of the original. So first up we have covers of songs that were first recorded in the 1960s. My commentary is rather lackluster and uninspired, because my brain was semi-gone at the time, so... sorry about that. Enjoy the music!
Vanessa Carlton - Paint It BlackHer voice is sultry, with a slight country twang during the chorus. The instrumentation in this cover is perfect, and she does well with the push and pull of the verses and the chorus.

The Rolling Stones)
Varios - Paint It, BlackHow about an instrumental, string-band version? It's good stuff, trust me.
(original:
The Rolling Stones)
The Mission UK - Love Me Two TimesWhen a 60s groove becomes a slinky, 90s techno groove. They kept some of the playfulness of the original, but the whole thing is darker and dirtier.
(original:
The Doors)
The Cure - Purple HazeDo I even need to say anything? It's The Cure, covering Hendrix. It's bizarre and brilliant.
(original:
Jimi Hendrix)
D.U.S.T. - White (Black) RabbitI think I posted this for the alphabet series, maybepossibly. Anyway, imagine if Jefferson Airplane entered The Matrix, and that's what this cover is.
(original:
Jefferson Airplane)
Emiliana Torrini - White RabbitHer bizarre, haunting voice lends itself so very well to this song.
(original:
Jefferson Airplane)
The Cure - Hello I Love YouThey keep the perky tone of the original, but with that synthy edge.
(original:
The Doors)
Panic! At The Disco - The WeightI suppose this was one of our first clues that Panic! was getting all inspired by sixties music? I love this cover, because it's so different from everything else they were playing - it's so laid-back and groovy.
