I've struggled a bit with how to define the bands I'm rec'ing for--I want a term that doesn't suggest they're worse as bands (they're not; for example, Empires is my favorite bandom/bandom-adjacent band) or even that their music is less popular, but rather that they're less popular in inspiring fanworks.
