Sit Rep (Hurricane-ness)

Hurricane Ike is supposed to arrive in D/FW sometime today. I say it's about time. There's been a heaviness in the air and it's been as humid as an armpit here. Animals have been acting strange and people have been too. There have been lines at the gas stations near my house and I have to wonder why? In the event of evacuation, probably the best vehicle would be two-wheeled and off road as to avoid street traffic. Speaking of traffic, there was a surprising amount of bustle for 7:00AM on a Saturday. But it wasn't just going North, but also South, East and West. It's as if no one knows what to do. Oi.

I'm sitting here in my office/command center waiting for the onslaught. My disaster pager is set on "vibrate" (I hate the sound of pagers--PTSD issue). My destiny seems to be inextricably linked to Hurricanes...But to show my intestinal fortitude and commitment, I pulled a Schwarzenegger and went commando.

hurricane, ike, letters from a slightly older doctor
