1. I swear I'm going to bed soon. My back's all achy from yoga, even though it was technically a doddle of a class. I'm really soooo not motivated to work these days. I spent ALL DAY watching election coverage on CNN, obviously, and THAT made me happy. But did I work? Noooooooo. Sigh. MOTIVATE ME, GUYS. Or not. :P ( Read more... )

Don't worry about Nicole. I have no idea if she'll be any good as Elphaba, but she was in "Fame Becomes Me" on broadway and apparently does a mean "Sarah Palin as Elphaba" belt face routine so I'm sure she's well qualified. She has stage experience at any rate and nobody really knows who she is, so she isn't a stunt cast.

I didn't see Fame Becomes Me but weird and true fact, when Nicole was on break from that to film, her fill in was Donna Vivino, who just got cast as Elphaba on the tour here. I'll assume that Nicole sings as well as Donna...

Oh EFF I love Broadway Unplugged. That makes me want to go. And I have no money to do so.

And I like that Mamma Mia parody. It reminds me of "Broadway Abridged" or whatever.

Thanks for the reassurance! I saw her belt Defying Gravity as Sarah Palin, and she proved in that video that she CAN sing. Whether she can play the full role - which is SO demanding - is something else, but at least I won't have to worry about her voice not being up to the task.

And I read about Donna's upgrading on the tour RIGHT after I read about Nicole - that IS some crazy coincidence. You've seen Donna in other things? I've heard excellent testimony about her Elphaba from bluebonnets on my flist.

Urk money. D: Go for... the $25 seats? At least they're not, like, $200.

♥ That parody cracks me UP.

No one should be allowed to take on the role of Elphaba without providing the fans with itune tracks of themselves singing awesomely. In fact, that should be true of all characters for all shows. Especially if no one's heard you sing, like, ever before.

I am still holding out hope that this person will get laryngitis at the last minute, and they'll have Donna Vivino in to replace her. Or better yet, me. Even though I can't sing. I'm the exception to my own rule.

edit for dumb typo of fail

Not to comment jack, but Nicole was just in "Fame Becomes Me" on broadway and is all over that CD: http://www.cduniverse.com/search/xx/music/pid/7394449/a/Fame+Becomes+Me.htm
Not sure how awesomely she sings on it but she was apparently amazing and her replacement in that show while she was on break for 2 months was Donna Vivino...

Thanks. I read your comment immediately after I posted mine (clearly reading prior to posting would be the smart thing to do ... but I never said I was smart, lol).

LOL, I like that as a criteria for all future Elphabas (Elphabai?) She's not bad though! Someone linked me to a video of Nicole singing Defying Gravity as Sarah Palin, and she can obviously SING underneath the comedy accent. I just hope she can ACT too. Elphaba is a role that needs its shit to be acted OUT OF IT.

Donna has been cast as the official Elphaba on the national tour! So no more standby for her, she's been upgraded! Which is awesome. But that means no Donna for us. :(

I (finally!) now can connect Lee Hom to an actual cantopop name ;) And YaY for Julia... although I'd be curious as to what sort of benefits and such are going to be happening in December when I will be able to go. :)

Ahaha, I don't know if he sings all that much Cantopop? I only know him from the Chinese pop he sings. He's HUGE in Asia. HUGE.

I want Julia to do benefits and concerts in January, when I can be there! *weeps* Will you be going to NYC in December? Yay, fun! :D

I've heard of him, and since I don't listen to much of the newer cantopop offerings, I figure, he must be fairly well known. :)

I'm hoping to be in NYC from (roughly) 12/23 through to 12/29(or 30).

He's MASSIVE. Insanely talented. I wish he was a slightly better singer (or at least, would stick to his true range), but what can I do, eh?

EEK. So exciting! Christmas in NYC will be fantastic. What shows are you hoping to see at the time??

LMFAO AT THAT MAMMA MIA THING. Seriously, I heart the shit out of the movie, and I do love Pierce usually, but man, he really shouldn't sing. LOL

I also love this part:

PIERCE BROSNAN
Meryl, will you marry me?

MERYL STREEP
I haven’t seen you in twenty years and I only actually knew you for one summer, but yeah, obviously!

LMAO.

OMG ROFL
That picture is adorable...first I was like...wtf, I know that hair... and why do you love that picture so much?!
But then I looked into the mirror... xD
And I'm very pleased with the fact she is keeping herself busy.^^

And hmm...new Elphaba? Why not keep Marcie longer? Saw her Nessa a couple of days ago and I found her amazing. But we'll see about the new cast.

Awww, how adorable can one be?! Seriously...lol

Yeah, how long is she standby by now? She was already standby for Eden in LA... But then Lisa never got the real promotion either... just those 3 months in Chicago.

*thread jack*

They also shafted Saycon before Lisa. In reality, out of the three of them, Lisa got the best deal, and even that was crap. But it's still up in the air if Julie will be eventually promoted.
