The same thing happens to her daughter Mamie. (Who actually starred opposite Allison Janney last summer. WILD.)

Mamie said she knew she finally made it when her Mom's name wasn't the first name mentioned in all her reviews.

Also, the head of my college theatre department always said that "Almost Like Being In Love" was the perfect audition song.

He was a sweet old man, but I bet he still believes that to this day.

Awww. It's a gorgeous song though. Did you used to take drama/singing etc classes?

My degree is in Arts Administration with a theatre concentration. I mostly stage managed my way through college to keep my scholarship.

Now I have it running through my head.

(sidenote: must track closing night. also, find money for closing night DVD)

That is insanely cool.

I would have it running through my head if Julie Andrews weren't telling me to Whistle A Happy Tune. Hmmm.

(I approve of tracking, YES PLZ. Also, we might be pooling for a DVD... :D)

I ordered the first DVD already, but can I get in on the pooling if there is such?

Mamie IS good though - I saw her opposite Laura Linney in Les Liaisons Dangereuses this past June. She's got excellent stage presence.

Still, I CAN'T imagine having to go through life answering questions like "what does it feel like to be Meryl Streep's daughter" over and OVER again. Craziness. Meryl was really proud in some interview too, when she said that Mamie finally got her first theatre review that didn't mention the Streep name at all.

I hadn't realised Mamie did a show with Allison, wtf! What was this??

The Autumn Garden last summer at the Williamstown Theatre Festival. My new British BFF Allison fan flew to see her do it.

Also, I COVET that "Waterloo" clutch.

Dude, your British BFF is a HARDCORE ALLISON FAN. She's amazing. Also, I am ridiculously jealous of Mamie Gummer right now. D:

I will NEVER have an occasion to use the tote - I just don't use such bags? - but OMG I ALSO WANT ONE. I love that Meryl carried it to her film PREMIERE, LOL.

No wonder Allison finally invited her to the dressing room party. I was like, "You realize by the time this gets to NYC, you'll probably be in her apartment, right?"
