Dorkage: House 4x10 It's A Wonderful Lie

Jan 31, 2008 01:47

Curses to LJ and Firefox for killing my original draft, WTF happened!

Anyway. NEW HOUSE YES? NEW HOUSE, YES. WE HAVE WAITED TOO LONG. I HAVE MISSED YOU, LISA.

Not as awesome an episode as I'd been hoping for, but some really excellent, cute moments all the same...

- Okay, so I have to admit that, in terms of some of the great stuff we've had in Season 4 so far, this episode kind of underwhelmed me. Oh, there were excellent bantery and character development moments I liked, of course - there always are. But something just felt... IDK, off about the POTW this week (although, HAI DONNA JANEL MOLONEY, YOU ARE PRETTY EXCEPT WHEN BLOOD IS COMING OUT OF YOUR EYES). Maybe I'd appreciate it more - House's attempts to tease a lie out of her, his refusal to believe that she could have told her daughter the whole truth about everything ever EVER - when I rewatch it. Maybe. But it just wasn't... engaging. Sure, the diagnosis - breast cancer in the knee, wtf right! - was pretty damn awesome. But the medicine lost me (as usual, this season), and well. Fingers crossed for next week?

- Lots of great little character moments though. LOTS of Wilson, for the first time in a long time - fortunately, this is the Wilson I love, and not the Wilson I abhor and want to throw pointy sticks at. I love it when he banters with House, and occasionally enables House, and is all rude and snarky to House and House just totally loves it. When Wilson walked off and House followed and asked where they were going? "I JUST KNOW IT HURTS YOU" - LOL, FAVOURITE. And who couldn't love Robert Sean Leonard in a moose cap that waves? *giggles* Too much cute in that scene.

- I guess I need a new name for the ducklets now that they're full-fledged ducklings? Ducklings v2.0? To be shortened to D2, perhaps...

- Kutner was cute - I love how he's now the dorky, bumbly, big-hearted one on the team, because 13 is made out of mysterious ice (whatEVAR) and Taub is just all snarky and old and mean and AWESOME. He's just like a puppy that House keeps kicking around, lol. Still waiting for him to demonstrate anything approaching the medical chops he should have to be on House's team, but for now, I'm good with him bringing a little Christmas cheer to House's world. ;)

- 13 - sigh. Too much screentime ftl. I don't hate her yet, not in the intense way I absolutely detested S1 Cameron. But she's getting there, the more self-righteous and totally boring and bitchy she gets. IDK - she knew what she was getting into when she went for House's job, surely his reputation as a prankster and a genius doctor with the disposition of a cheeky two-year-old preceded him. Why does she get so PISSY about the stuff House does?

- Taub - still my favourite D2. I like how they keep throwing him into scenes with House and Cuddy.

- OMFG, I MEAN SCENE. ONE. SOLE. MISERABLE. SCENE. FTL.

- But it was a scene of win:

HAI PRETTINESS. CUDDY IS A FLIRT AND I LOVE HER FOR IT. PLEASE TO BE GOING >> HERE << FOR FULL-FLEDGED FLAIL OF EPIC PROPORTIONS...

- LE was flamin' hot though. Maybe it's because I haven't seen her onscreen in AGES. But she is made of pretty pretty PRETTY.

- AND HELLO. LAPDANCE AND BONDAGE. ONE AND A HALF SCENES, TWO FULL MENTIONS OF SEXAY GOINGS-ON BETWEEN HOUSE AND CUDDY. AM I ALONE IN THINKING THAT OUR SHIP HAS SAILED INTO WATERS ENTIRELY MADE OF SEX. NO, RITE. I shall reserve more flailage for
my_vicodin, but suffice it to say I'd be a happy bunny if we got Christmas smutfic that involved a lapdance, yes indeed.

- Did anyone else feel a little bit Christmassy after the episode? They should so have shown it last year.

- HOUSE SINGING MAKES MY HEART SING. Yes it also makes me a gooey cheeseball but I love Hugh's voice and I loved that he was singing and he's so hot and my chain of thought is now all rambly and not at all coherent.

- CHASE. HAI CHASE. THANK YOU FOR PWNING FOREMAN DURING YOUR SCENE TOGETHER IN THE OR, LOL.

- A Cameron I like is a Cameron with no dialogue!

- I kind of like the ending - it was a bit manipulative and heavyhanded to see the old Ducklings beckon the little D2s over and see them be all chummy in slow-mo. But having House walk past them, with the sense that he can't quite break that barrier between them and join them - a little sad and lonely, and yet the ending was surprisingly upbeat. I was scared for a moment that the House I had loved all along had suddenly found religion instead of worshipping Santa Satan. Thank god he was just checking out a not-quite hooker in a nativity scene. ;)

- There are other bits I loved, I'm sure. Maybe I'll like the ep more if I see it again. We so needed more Cuddy though. More Cuddy can never be wrong.

- Edited to add: a couple of my favourite lines: all House, of course. "Lies are like children - hard work but worth it, because the future depends on them." AND "Santa obviously. 'cos you know I worship him. Oh wait, I mean Satan. I always get them confused." LOL HOUSE ILU.
