I HAVE, ON THE OTHER HAND, WATCHED 13 EPISODES OF HOUSE IN THE SPACE OF ONE DAY AND AM ALL CAUGHT UP. 5X23 WAS LEGENDARY, GUYS. LEGENDARY. TO THE POINT THAT I MADE A SHIT-TON OF ICONS RATHER THAN SLEEP, BECAUSE I. HAD. TO.
I DO NOT HAVE TIME FOR EXCESSIVE FLAILING OR DETAILED SQUEEING OVER EACH EPISODE, MAYBE I WILL COME BACK AND DO THAT WHEN I HAVE MORE TIME. I JUST HAD TO SAY. OMG I HEART OUR SHIP SO MUCH. I'VE FORGOTTEN JUST HOW... AMAZING HOUSE/CUDDY ARE, HOW ELECTRIC AND HOW RICH AND LAYERED AND DARK AND FANTASTIC. SO WE ALREADY HAD THAT FIRST, EXPLOSIVE KISS BETWEEN THEM.
I NEEDED THIS FOR POSTERITY SO I CAN STARE AT THIS MOMENT WHENEVER I WANT:
JUST. LOOK. AT. THAT.
GUYS. SHE ASKED HIM, ALL SEXY-LIKE, IF HE WANTED TO KISS HER. AND HE SAID HE ALWAYS WANTS TO KISS HER. AND THEN SHE - CUDDY, OMG, CUDDY - GOES IN FOR THIS KISS IN PARTICULAR (WHICH IS ACTUALLY MY FAVOURITE, DESPITE THE STEAMY AMAZING THAT FOLLOWS AFTERWARDS) AND HE KISSES BACK AND THEN IT GETS ALL HOT AND SEXY AND GRARGH WHAT EVEN IS THIS AMAZING I DON'T THINK MY BRAIN WAS WIRED TO HANDLE THIS.
Okay, the rest of the post SHOULD be in capslock but I'm gonna spare your eyes. I LOVE how this first REAL kiss played out - yes, of course it's needy and a wee bit wrong and desperate on both their parts (this is House/Cuddy we're talking about), because, hai, they're smacking on each other the night after he detoxed from being a Vicodin junkie SO ROMANTIC OMG. But, again, that's as romantic as this show gets, and I LOVE IT. I love especially that Cuddy is the one taking the lead here: I always thought that this is how it would have to be when/if House and Cuddy got SERIOUS. Not just that kiss he hazarded in Joy, when he let her know how he felt but had no clue how to follow up like a human being. House needs to know - as Amber pointed out when he was crawling along the bathroom floor for that one elusive pill - that he deserves her... or that, at least, CUDDY thinks he deserves her. I don't think he's ever believed that he does. Which is why he needs Cuddy to make that first move. And LOOK at how beautifully played the kiss is. SHE leans in, closes her eyes and kisses him; he is still - shocked, his eyes open, and when she steps back and looks back at him again? OH MY FUCKING GOD MY HEART TURNED TO MUSH. And then, of course, he presses her back against the wall and all kind of epic sexiness ensues. BUT. AMAZING.
I have so much to SAY but I shouldn't because it's late, but ASDHASDHASLDAS I MUST, so just, snapshots:
- he needs her, he says so - he needs her to help him detox, because he KNOWS she will do it, he knows she knows him best and he is telling her that... he is weak and he needs her to be strong for him <-- I know this sounds cheesy but omg, it's SUCH a huge admission for him to make, which he did to Wilson already when he asked for help with the hallucination and everything, but omg, to go to Cuddy for detox help!? ONLY FOR HOUSE WOULD THIS BE, LIKE, THE MOST ROMANTIC GESTURE EVER.
- oh House and your self-loathing - thinking he's her "best asset" and refusing to let himself think that she'd be there for any other reason... however much, of course, he hopes that it'd be because she wants him in her life
- OH CUDDY THANK GOD FOR NOT PUSSYFOOTING ABOUT ANYMORE. That little story of how she audited his endocrinology class because he was... an "interesting lunatic" even back in college? MADE MY HEART EXPLODE. And the look on House's face when he realises WHAT that means, what Cuddy is conceding to him and to herself about what he means to her... FUCKITY, I can't even deal.
- And ALL the little moments of sheer AMAZING that just led to this, scattered throughout the season: everything from the RIDICULOUS humour of House tricking Cuddy into the room with that guy who lost all inhibitions when he spoke (House's way of telling Cuddy she looked good that day, ahahaha), through to their tentative, forlorn dance around Cuddy's party for Rachel, or House and Cuddy with the METHADONE OMG, and how she had hoped he might take it and... become less miserable, and he told her that "this is the only me you get" - and she stands there, stunned for a while as he lumbers off in the background. GOD. SO ANGSTY.
There is so so so much more I want to say about the season, BEYOND House/Cuddy, and stretching to Kutner (OMG WHY KUMAR, WHY, I KNOW YOU HAVE A JOB WITH OBAMA BUT OMG I LOVED YOU), Taub (has started to get a bit annoying), Cameron (STILL ANNOYING, GTFO AWAY FROM CHASE WHO IS STILL ADORABLE AND WAY TOO GOOD FOR YOUR BITCHY SELF), Foreteen (which I kind of like or am ambivalent to, mostly, although watching Foreman be amused when 13 was doing jello shots off a hooker at Chase's bachelor party was HILARIOUS)... ALSO, LOTS OF AWESOME HOUSE/WILSON HOYAAAAY. It's nice to have Wilson back, featuring strongly in House's life and in the pace of the show. He really was running around a LOT this season, and RSL is looking GOOD, so you know, HAPPY. :D
I HAVE THIRTEEN EPISODES OF FLAIL TO CATCH UP ON AND I CANNOT HOPE TO DO SO TONIGHT. BUT I'M SO SO HAPPY I MANAGED TO WATCH 5X23 BEFORE GOING TO NY. Now I just have to find a way to watch the finale while I'm there! D: Because it looks amazing and SO funny and EEEK.
