Did the prime minister just make an Obama slam? *blinks*
Hide behind Renn, Hanto. Gunpei is being creepy. And if you need a photo of a girlfriend, why not ASK ONE OF THE GIRLS!!!! Jesus, Gunpei, I used to love you but your desperation is wearing on me. At least Hanto's back to giving the appropriate people backrubs. However, you think he'd realize that maybe now is not the time to go to the bathhouse with creepy creepy Gunpei. I really don't need to see these two naked so much... or at all. *shudders*
I think may have been trying to strangle Gunpei when he ran to his side after they fell...
Also Tenchi Muyou is a really bad attack phrase.
But if you were smart, Mr. Prime Minsister, you would've killed them all. Also, I can't really feel this death because Go-on didn't set me up for it. They took a different route from Gekiranger and remained a really kid-like show all the way through. It doesn't feel like deaths and fake-out deaths from other shows. It feels like a desperate attempt to be a serious show in the last 4 episodes... We just had happy dance numbers, and now we kill people? You can't shift tones like this, guys.
48: You know the problem with Frankenstein Monsters of the Day? The good guys already beat all those attacks. Try something new, guys.
I'm disappointed in the lack of crazyRenn, though. Why does everyone else turn into a wuss? And again we become the Sousuke show starring Sousuke. That's boring. And this show has a serious problem with turning its heroes into big wussy children.
And Wings, why did you save the wussies? You're more effective than them, you fools! I understand we're trying to go back to ep1 and make it circular and all that, but come on.
Uhm... the preview for Go-on vs. Geki with the Renn/Hanto dance on the piano is weird
49: SLOW MOTION JACKET GRAB! That's a "you're going down bitch" sign if ever there was one.
Aw the Gaiark are just out for a very dirty Utopia. Not such bad villains after all.
And of course they aren't dead. This is still a kid's show. I'm still surprised about Mele...
50: My OTP reunion disappoints me sorely. I am a sucker for a helmetless catch phrase sequence, though. Saki's actress so knows her move is crappy. And I forgive Gunpei his earlier transgressions for his dorky posing skillz.
As for the omake, Gunpei goes back to the creepy detective? Stupid!!! And no handcuffing Hanto. That's not allowed. Seiyuu cameos are a little awkward in this instance though... Shishido-san... At least Renn and Hanto sit together at the go-kart race.
Why the doves? I never understood the doves.
ShinkenRed... that sword is still not cool
Final Thoughts: Go-onger started really strong, but it lost to me in the end. It had some good things:
1. Adorable talking Enjin whose bond with their aibou was touching and fun.
2. Dorktastic acting abilities of people like Gunpei and Usui-kun.
3. Catchy themes and so much merch.
But, things went wrong.
1. The service was EVERYWHERE. I couldn't keep track of it, and once I'd finally decided on an OTP, nothing stayed constant. I'm a loyalist, and I wanted more Renn/Hanto. They made me a promise in episode 5, and they kept renigging.
2. Then Enjin plotlines just sort of ... disappear. Except for Sousuke and Speedor whose bond gets weird, but even our favorite little condor gets less and less screen time. Also we bring in BoeWhale who is just wrong.
3. Mecha. Overload. Chill out on the gattai, folks.
So yeah, Go-onger is ending on kind of a shrug note for me. I don't hate it, but I lost my love for it too. It leaves me feeling, *shrug.* I have tentative hopes for Shinkenger, but sentai is doing me wrong lately.
If nothing else, I'm hoping Geki will dominate the next team-up. Beast on.
