Busy busy busy...
Okay, so V1 and I weren't going to go down to the Springs to celebrate Creeggan Day. We weren't. She was poor and my sis was in town, and we were going to skip it. Then we changed our minds. Now my mum wanted the family to do Easter on Saturday cuz she was in an Easter play and sis had to leave on Easter proper, so I said sure, I can go to the play at five. V1 and I drove to the Springs, got our Same Booth (by pure chance) and talked about our project for a couple hours. Then my mum calls, "So, you'll be there at 4:15 right?"
Me: "Huh? It starts at 5"
Mom: "Yes but you need to be there at 4:15. I reserved you seats.
Me: (but if the seats are reserved, why do I need to be early?) Uhm... I might be a little late.
Mom: (catching on immediately) Where are you?
Me: ...Colorado Springs...
V1: *snicker snicker*
But yeah. Then after a fiasco with me being unable to get the pants I wanted cuz sister sib didn't take them with her laundry, we made it to the Sturch by 4:30. Not bad. We got to see the camels (yes, this church rents live camels for the play. For one scene). The play was... *shudder* An hour and a half sermon by their crazy pastor who just talks and talks and talks and I feel awkward while V1 makes Biblical commentary and I watch people have "experiences." I'm not anti-Christian or anything, but this place always feels so... commercial. So trite. I can't stand being there. I go for my mom because she's very passionate about it and it's fun to see her fulfilling her acting dreams.
And then my fam took us all to dinner and V1 and my dad nearly came to blows discussing the Biblical accuracy of the sermon during which sis and I played, "Let's change the subject!!!" A. Lot. Sigh. So yeah, my mum isn't the happiest person with me, but I came over for Easter lunch, and I still got my chocolate so I guess I'm forgiven
I really dislike Saki. This dislike translated all the more powerfully when she developed a crush on a plaid-jacket wearing, fake flautist Minami. My least favorite Tezuka of all time. Get. Off. My. Sentai. Saki is dumb, that's all I have to say.
Oh, except that Gunpei and Sousuke are clearly still in flirt and pick on each other phase whereas I believe Ren and Hanto are now an established couple... and all the more dangerous because of it. I know that a lot of Sousuke/Saki shippers will come out of this. They're wrong. No matter what the subs say, I won't buy that.
Wataru doesn't get enough screen time. At all. Matsuda Kenji is still like unto a god. Nago's rider system is Sieg... which I find oddly comforting. And TAKAEIJI!!!!!!!!!! Missed you, buchou. Even in that horrible ensemble you borrowed from Kazuki, I missed you. You know, I just realized I watched my least favorite and my favorite Tezuka in Tokusatsu today... that's weird.
This episode also wins the funniest moment in Kiva yet: Nago-san attempting to cross his legs in a tiny restaurant. Win. He's such a ladybug...
So V1 and I are rewatching Dekaranger under the guise of testing our newly modified point system. *ehem* We figure, Ban and Hoji are the ultimate sentai couple, so they can be our test ground. So far, aside from a few miscellaneous Sen points, everything is normal.
Then we watched 3 service-less episodes and remembered why we didn't make it through Dekaranger the first time.
Then we got to the Hoji's ex episode. This should have some pointable stuff, we think. "I never watch this one cuz that guy looks so much like Naoya," says V1. "Yeah, I remember that," I say. *watch first appearance during which we already have to redefine our point system based on matching bracelets* Me: "Are we sure it's not Naoya?" V1: *checks Wikipedia. Both: "Funk."
Gomoto Naoya... Kaidoh... is Hoji's ex. He was on Dekaranger before Myu ever got a hold of him, but the first time we watched Dekaranger, we were young and untrained and didn't realize the connections tennis and sentai had. Looking at the points here, Hoji and Vino were married. They outscored Ban/Hoji points in a single episode. It makes things very clear why all the points for Ban/Hoji are on Ban side... Hoji's still wearing Vino's bracelet. I expect the values to shift accordingly now.
I feel... really dumb.
Sumimasen, Hibiki-san. I will train harder.
