On this day in 2004, V1 and I drove to Colorado Springs for a Barenaked Ladies Concert. We got there so early in our efforts to scope the venue, we ended up sitting for hours in a Village Inn, eventually creating our own tv series that will someday make us rich. We discussed the series at length while annoying radio dj's and watching poor fans get police tickets when they burned their way into the parking lot in an effort to get concert tickets. Ah, Schadenfreude. Then we saw the greatest concert of our lives during which Steve was sick and still rocked the world.
And then, thanks to our scoping (and an incident with Matchbox 20 about two years prior), we met the band. I talked with Jim about the awesomeness of his bass solo for a full 2 sentences. It was the most eloquent I've ever been while meeting one of my idols. And Jim Creeggan hugged us. Jim has arms like some sort of bird of prey's wingspan and our Rock-Stalking mentor, BethSusie, took photos for us.
Whenever I feel like crap, I think about that hug. Someday, Jim and I are gonna get married... *dreamy eyes*
In celebration, everyone enjoy "Peterborough and the Kawarthas" - my favorite Creeggan solo of all time.
