First off, I love how aptly you've sent up the entire series -- it already has a really epic feel to it, and though this may sound a little mundane, the sense of organization and purpose is much appreciated -- it already feels like it's being driven forward well.
I adored all the interactions, with Richard and between the two of them, and the inkling of backstory you've given Charles and Eloise. It all just seems so organic and natural, like a kind of "of course that's how it would happen!"
Finally, this first installment is just so consistent. That's an issue I've found with multipart fics before -- that they wane and shift in terms of quality. This is just so strong all the way through. Fantastic work!

I loved Richard in this, and how they ended up deciding that Eloise would have been their next leader. Aw, poor Charles, everyone is taking the leadership from him even back then. I loved your young!Eloise actually, and I really liked how she started bonding with Charles. In the second section I really liked the part about her worrying about not being taken seriously and their dialogue was very plausible. And ha, yay for referencing twitchy scientists, murderers and crazy old men, I loved how you ( ... )
