So don't ask me what the hell's happened, but there's some shit going down in the Zootopia/Zootropolis fandom that's raised everyone's hackles and the centre of it seems to be a certain fancomic that addresses certain issues. Then, while going through the Tumblr tags, trying to piece it all together, I stumbled across a piece of very graphic fanart for the fandom (although not the webcomic in question) that wasn't under a cut or anything and which I really rather would not have seen. Not to sound uptight but no thankyou.
Yeah... And just when I was considering going back into that fandom. *backs away slowly*
In other, happier news, I finished the first draft of my Watsons_Woes fanfic and sent it off to be beta'ed. I originally started a new piece from scratch; however, it got very long, very rambly and wasn't really going anywhere and I kept getting stuck. I'd added a lot of material from short fics that I've not published and were written following TFP. However, realising that it was a small gift exchange and I shouldn't be breaking my back over it - not to mention I was running out of time anyway, I decided to take one of the aforementioned short fics and just flesh that one out instead. I don't consider the other fic a waste of time; there's a lot of material in there I can use, potentially for a sequel/midquel(?) for this one if all goes well. It feels good to have something to work on, though and to practice - I really am glad to have the desk in the separate section of my room, as it feels less clutterered and easier to concentrate; I was up until 2.30 writing the fic this morning.
I am glad though, that the fic is out of my hair, at least for today and that I made the decision to simplify, simplify, because I'm feeling pretty ill right now and did my workshift yesterday on about two hours sleep, although I did manage to nip out with a colleague for a quick drink. I'm moved by how nice everyone seems at my job - I've already been given two little cards for good work and it means a lot. Anyway, today the second series of The Crown was released on Netflix, so I've been in my jammies and in bed all morning and am currently on Episode 3. Gotta love Matt Smith and Claire Foy with their wonderful upper-crust accents! Willing myself to get up and go out to collect some bits and bobs for myself. Really running short on money and it's another week until I get paid; I'm digging into my savings and the Christmas present fund to get myself through.
Also decided to do a Christmas card exchange, announcing my intentions on Facebook as I love Christmas cards and I don't do enough of them, meaning in turn I don't get any. It's odd, but the most random people responded; a couple of friends, yes, but also people I haven't seen in years. I was kind of hoping a few more people would be interesed - perhaps more of my closer friends and maybe a few of my previous co-workers but they haven't responded to the post, so there it it. I'll admit, I had a moment of 'Sheesh, I'm really not that popular.' Still, I have a mission to spread some Christmas cheer and people to write to and hopefully, some cards to receive in turn!
