My thoughts on various season finales.

[Spoiler (click to open)]AI! AI! AI! And It Is Free! This is why I kept watching. I'm not a big fan of the "two guys save the week" shows but this one has secondary characters that I care about - Carter and Fusco - and recurring ones that are awesome like Zoe and now also Shaw (I mentioned before that Sarah Shahi Read more... )

I'm moving backwards through my DVR and because of Boston that's a lot of watching but I got to The Good Wife finally this morning. I found the ballot case slightly ridiculous but it shows the relationship of lawyers and truth and how fast right and wrong can switch so it was fun. I liked Jackie telling Peter off, Eli and horror movies but most of all I liked Alicia running away from one choice by jumping into another one instead. I'm only sad about Carey and Kalinda. This is what mixing friendship and business does to you.

Finales are my least favourite thing on Grey's. I'm tired of all the disasters and even the characters commented on all the horrible things Meredith already survived. I just finished Redshirts and everything they say about Kerensky there apply to her perfectly (from lazy writing to PTSD).

I also finally finished The Americans. Claudia/Elizabeth interactions are my favourite part although I wish they'd used their manipulation skills to work together instead of against each other. And Nina's is my favourite character arc (and I like Arkadij - Cziort s nimi moment was great). But the whole Martha storyline made me wondered about their wigs that never move out of place - especially after the whole CIA spy thing last week. However, the penultimate episode was more interesting and with more twists. But the finale had me rooting for the Russians more then ever again so that's a win for the series. I loved the tape from Nadieżda's mother and the Paige is getting suspicious ending.

Yes, Nikita is so close to all I wanted from action show with women I can't hardly believe it actually happened on TV (women with goals not about men working together and against each other on stuff not love interest related, etc.). I think it's easier to ship this version of Nikita and Michael because he's not using/controlling her. Despite tendency to be overdrsmatic at sacrifycing everything to safe each other, they are, for the most part, partners. And I like that in couples.

I have pity for Fitz more then I despise him. He is surrounded by so many people whose want to control him and all he knows how to deal with it is to lash out. Olivia at least has people she can trust and who listen to her and do what she wants. Everyone knows better what Fitz should do and who he should be. Including Olivia. I see how awful he is but I see how awful they are to him and I understand why he is like that. There is a kind of cruelty that comes from powerlessness. It's childish and vindictive and makes him a worse person but I still feel sorry for him. Maybe because it's usually women who are portrayed like that and I like seeing the most powerful man in the world in the role. Olivia and Fitz are dysfunctional but it's very clear she wants this so I think they deserve each other. I don't think they have a future together but I don't actively dislike it.
