Future is now

Officially the spring is almost over, the summer is in. Theoretically at least. We had better weather in May. The forecast of heat didn't come through. All the week was either cold or rainy or both. Today was warm and humid and now it is raining for past few hours. And now forecast says it is to stay. I knew the summer already has been.

On the other hand the linden are blooming. Or rather some kinds already finished and others are just about to start. I only noticed the early ones blooming today because I took a different route today and the smell clued me in. Of course this is in the city. Outside some linden might be flowering till July. Maybe we should change the names for months (in Polish th name for July - Lipiec - is derived from the word for linden - lipa - because they are supposed to bloom then) - more and more often they bloom in June. This year everything is early and I expected them to bloom for some time. Actually I think they were slowed down by bad weather lately.

In more sane word the scientists made a "black hole". See - no need for LHC to start for the end of the world or at least the disappearance of sound as this is sonic black whole and no sound can escape it.  Made using Bose-Einstein condensates - a cloud of atoms cooled to almost absolute zero that acts like a light wave. It can be used to determine some properties of real black holes without destroying the world in the process.

The Americans seem not to like yo be outdone by anyone. Not even in space vandalism. They apparently felt jealous of Japanese and decided to make their own Moon crater. And maybe check if there's a water there.

The reason I may actually consider getting a wedding - US couple to have world's first weightless wedding. So cool.  Although I would just like to go to space without any ceremonies involved.

You dreamed about them as kid, then scorned their cheeziness, now they are to be a hit Christmas gift - the wrist videophones are here. And they said SF was unrealistic and never predicts the future. Now you can look stupid talking to your wrist but no longer be considered insane weirdo. I think Chuck and Morgan would have it.

Living in 21st century.
