Or one mice, anyway - spotted feasting on an apple core in the wastebasket in the den. Several times. Right in front of my husband, the brazen thing. So now we know what to use to bait the Tin Cat tomorrow: one yummy apple core. Followed by a
free trip to the park, so it's not just following one or the other of us back inside (as is probably the case with a backyard release). My pity for the mouse going out into this weather will, of course, disappear the first time I spot a mouse doody.
The shrew has been spotted again as well. Possibly more than one - spottings in two different parts of the back area, at different times. Well... technically, one in the kitchen that was hiding behind the oven, and bolted for the back of the house. Heard scrabble scrabble scrabble at irregular intervals, making triangulation interesting, followed by the furbazoid making a break for it along the wall and disappearing somewhere off the steps. The previous time I saw one zip out from behind the oven (big, big rain, so big, big water coming in), I wasn't sure if I was seeing a furbazoid or a really big cockroach... so some squealing was involved on my part. Don't like roaches, shrews eat roaches, so shrews are all right as far as I'm concerned. (Since the husband's feet are in daily danger, OTOH, he's somewhat less positive about shrews.)
