I do know what you mean. And while I agree mostly with what you see going on, I do want to throw in a few other items that may change your view of events.
The new Supreme Court nominee is going to change the ballgame quite a bit. Now Republicans have something to fight for and stand behind, whereas before they didn't have that. And since the news media will mostly be covering that (somewhat understandable....) the old roles will come back, Republicans acting and Democracts reacting (whining will be how it is played, and might even be true).
The only thing that will change this is if something goes bad with the ongoing shit Bush and Co. have gone through previously from your list. Libby or DeLay being found guilty, something bigger happening with the Senate investigating Iraq or the Plame case...
I guess my point in all this is, things may go back to the way they were somewhat. People have short memories, even moreso when the guy they voted for is following through on a campaign promise, especially one that people get so energized about. After all, why worry about soldiers dying when babies are dying?
I agree that the new Supreme Court nominee will take up a lot of the spotlight. But if Karl Rove and Bill Frist are indicted and any of the aforementioned are forced to resign and perhaps found guilty it would be a killer blow to Bush over the next year...I mean...any trials of this magnitude are bound to be long and drawn out...and who knows what will happen and what else will come out. Perhaps this will finally be the event that will make the majority of Americans see what Democrats like myself have been screaming about for the past 5 years...But you know me...always hoping for the come from behind surprise victory that probably will never happen...
My biggest wish is that is that it be the Republicans on defense for a while instead of the Dems...even that would be a massive improvement compared to the last few years...
