Adorable Panda Living Room, Saturday Afternoon
Pento was hungry. Or, if he wasn't hungry -- and despite his squawking, he was doing an excellent job of ignoring the perfectly fine seed mix in his cage -- he at least needed a change of scenery, which Ella could understand. She carried the bird into the cabin's common area, then poked through the cabinets to prepare a snack for each of them.
The freed parrot spread his wings and circled the room, then dove down and started to peck manically at the floor.

A closer look, and Ella realized it was a frothing mass of brown ants. One of them ran over her shoe (and thank god she wasn't barefoot) as if to provide a helpful introduction.
"ACK!" she yelped, then went for the bug spray while Pento continued his one-parrot ant genocide plan.
